REMARKABLE! Would 1000% recommend this restaurant for lovely Indian meal in the West Village. The owner greeted us by name and sat us. Service was prompt, with both the waiter and the owner making sure we had everything we needed and were comfortable throughout the meal. Every bite was a perfect balance of flavor, texture, and freshness--this is the kind of meal that stays with you long after you leave. They even brought out a complimentary desert for our birthday. Such a wonderful environment and lovely food - would recommend many times over. Thank you!

incredible service, fun and intimate ambience, and delicious food. our amazing, attentive server gave us free chutneys etc to start, and a free dessert so we could try more. the naan was garlicky and fresh. surprisingly good wine selection for such a small spot. I'll be back!

YUM. I ate here with my husband, food was great. We both got the dinner for one person that came with an appetizer, main, bread, rice and dessert. Lovely place. Servers were helpful.

In terms of sit-down Indian restaurants in Manhattan that is not in Murray Hill, I think Gandhi Cafe might be the best one out there. Came here on a Saturday night close towards closing. The service was fairly quick given that things were winding down. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. The ambiance is very no frills. We got the lamb tikka, chicken vindaloo, garlic naan and some samosas. They were all very good. The chicken vindaloo was a tad bit spicy. The naan was very fresh. All in all, it was a very delicious meal. I would definitely come back again especially if I were looking for a sit-down place that is a good deal, especially in the West Village.

Great Indian food for an awesome price. We ordered off of the lunch menu which came with tomato lentil soup, onion fritter (likely not GF), garlic naan (not GF) and unlimited basmati rice. I ordered the tandoori chicken & my partner got the chicken tikka masala. Both were so amazing. We also ordered masala fries- all for only $28.15! Good service and we were offered amazing rice pudding on the house before we left. Nice ambiance although it was not busy.

Good, hidden Indian spot in the west village! Found this through the Seated app and very glad I did. The owners make you feel like family. They start by bringing you chips/dip on the house and ended offering us a small, free dessert. The dishes were great and all a good price.

this place is extremely authentic and tasty. A surprisingly affordable hole in the wall in the west village. I've been here a handful of times and will absolutely keep coming back. Fun side note, last summer we were sitting outside dining here and SJP and Andy Cohen walked right by us on the sidewalk. Pros: - authentic and delicious food - I'm pretty sure the owner consistently works as a server - $19 pre fix dinner deal - affordable bottle of wine - they will let you sit and mingle for a long dinner and never rush you Cons: - the service is either great and food comes at a good pace or it will take two hours for everything to come out and you can't get more water. There is no in between (but isn't that part of the experience?)

** OLD SCHOOL CHARM - WE HAD A LOVELY DINNER ** I haven't been here in a while, but decided to come with a visiting friend this past week. We had such a nice time; the food was delicious and the service was on point. No one batted an eye when we asked for the dishes to be made without ghee and no one rushed us at all; we got to sit and enjoy every bite. The restaurant is attractive and quiet and has old world charm, as do the staff. My friend was sad she didn't have time to go twice. Next time for sure. In the meantime I'm still craving the aloo gobi and samosas...
